Nuweiba is a quiet and peaceful resort located on a large, sandy, flood-plain, sandwiched between the towering mountains of Sinai, Egypt, and the clear, deep, blue seas of the Gulf of Aqaba in the Red Sea. The area is rich with spacious, sandy beaches, colourful coral reefs, date palm trees and roaming camels. Located along the east coast of Sinai, some 70 km south of Taba and 155 km north of Sharm el Sheikh, the whole area measures about ten square kilometres and includes the Bedouin village of Tarabeen and Nuweiba Town to the north and the Bedouin village of Maizena and the small town around Nuweiba Port to the south. Nuweiba Port is served by frequent ferries to Aqaba in Jordan whilst Nuweiba is served by two airports - Taba some 85 km to the north and Sharm el Sheikh, 150 km to the south. Nuweiba is the closest beach destination to the world famous St Catherine Monastery. |
