Originally built as a trout farm, the building was converted into the Restaurant and Hotel Fischkultur in 1875. The hotel is known from the television series Der Forellenhof loosely translated as The Trout Yard starring the actors Hans Soehnker and Jane Tilden as hoteliers, and is currently the setting for the series Die Fallers eine Schwarzwaldfamilie The Fallers a Black Forest Family.
