Robinson Crusoe meets chic elegance at Azura on beautiful Benguerra Island in the Indian Ocean. The resort was hand-built by local people using raw materials transported by dhow. With just 15 villas, each with their own infinity pool, indigenous spa treatments and fantastic food, this is undiscovered barefoot escapism. The villas are elegant and comfortable with hardwood floors and doors which open out to a private pool facing the sea. The sense of seclusion is wonderful. If you want to spend the day exploring, take a trip to a secluded beach or island with a freshly filled picnic hamper. Swim in the turquoise sea, sunbathe on the powder-white sand or sit under one of the salas with a book. Alternatively, be at one with nature in the spa where a traditional massage with warm marula oil will leave you feeling totally relaxed. Then you can dive or snorkel the glorious offshore reef,go deep sea fishing to catch a marlin, sail a dhow or go dugong, whale and dolphin spotting.
