Megara offers high quality accommodation combined with traditional Turkish hospitality in a quiet and cosy setting. Megara terrace boast magnificent views of the Marmara sea and the Princess Islands. Megara hotel is named after the first legendary settlers of the historic peninsula of Istanbul. The 'Megarans', colonists from the ancient Greek city of Megara under the command of general Byzas, established 'Byzantion' in the 7th century B.C. on the site of ancient Lygos. The hotel is designed as an Ottoman manor, and has a sophisticated ambiance and old word charm. All furnishings are handmade by local craftsmen including some fine original paintings, and there are antiques, such as mirrors with gilded frames and a piano, which was played by Ataturk, the founder of Turkey. The 20 rooms are comfortable and equipped with all the most modern amenities. All rooms have private bathrooms with enclosed shower, antique type basin. The rooms feature queen or king sized beds, large wardrobe, hardwood floors, individually controlled fan, fully stocked mini-bar, direct dial telephone and satellite TV. There are roll away beds and cribs available, smoke detectors and sprinkler systems in all rooms and suites, nonsmoking rooms, handicap accessible rooms. Executive Guest Rooms: over sized rooms that include a king size bed, with a lovely seating area are available. Megara hotel offers a variety of very special and rare domestic and international wines and the talented culinary team present local and continental cuisines for a superb dining experience on the sea view terrace. For lunch, you choose from selections that range from salad combinations to entrees or dine from the a la carte menu.
