Hotel information:
The County Hotel occupies the oldest building in Carlisle city center. Built during the reign of King George III and occasionally used by royalty during the 19th century, it overlooks the impressive twin sandstone towers of Henry VIII's citadel. The building was converted into a hotel in 1990, retaining the decor and grandeur befitting its Georgian history while providing all the modern amenities expected by travelers at the turn of the millenium.
