Burley Manor Hotel is the jewel in the crown of the New Forest and has enjoyed many regal connections throughout its long history. Parts of the estate were probably laid out in Saxon times and must have existed before the Doomsday Book was compiled in 1086. Later - for nearly 200 years - Burley was a Royal Manor. The current building was erected in 1852 but it was a further 80 years before the house became a hotel and the restaurant and bedroom wing were added. During World War Two the hotel was requisitioned and used as a military headquarters by Lord Montgomery and his chiefs of staff. Over the past 25 years the baronial-style hotel has been continually upgraded and refurbished - the most recent additions being a brand new wing of luxurious premier rooms and a conservatory extension to the restaurant.
Burley has 38 spacious and elegant en-suite bedrooms - some with four-poster beds. All are fully equipped with trouser press - hairdryer - TV and tea and coffee making facilities.
The hotel has a relaxing ambience with modern comfortable amenities. The large lounge is packed with antiques and warmed by a blazing log fire. Grand bay windows overlook the stunning scenery - a magnificent old cedar tree alongside the croquet lawn - outdoor swimming pool - which is heated in the summer - and a paddock where a herd of New Forest deer graze.
The delightful restaurant serves traditional cuisine and features a superb fireplace - views over the landscaped gardens and a conservatory with gives the impression of dining al fresco.
Burley Manor has its own stables with horses suitable for novices to more experienced riders and self-contained meeting facilities - the largest seating up to a maximum of 60 delegates.
From 1st July all Forestdale Hotels - including the bedrooms - will become completely no smoking when the Smokefree England legislation comes into force. We believe that providing a smoke-free environment will enhance the well-being and comfort of our guests and employees |
